San Miguel:

30th and May 1st April 2013

Another exciting job in which we used Cape Town to represent multiple world destinations. This commercial doubled up as a launch pad for Mika’s track “Live Your Life”. Filmed in Barcelona, London and Cape Town, it is actually set all over the world.

Made like a music video, international and local musicians were cast to play the parts of the various characters that you’ll see in the video on our Home page.

Working with Wind Productions from Madrid, and director Dioniso Naranjo, it was a high energy shoot, and an advert in itself for the fact that Cape Town truly is a city that can be used to replicate so many worldwide destinations. In this case we used the city to create images of Scandinavia, New Orleans, New York, Australia, Santa Monica, New England and Africa – not bad for a little city at the tip of South Africa!

BKK Mobil Oil Insurance:

10th, 11th, 12th and 13th April 2013

Working again with Marken Film, and for the first time with director Hagen Decker, this was a three day shoot that in the good old days would have been spread out over at least six days… and the job required the shooting and delivery of two spots. We’re always up for a challenge though and everyone really pulled out the stops on this one to make it a memorable and rewarding experience.

It was all shot in and around Cape Town, using the Red Epic, and a supporting collection of 5D’s and GoPro’s to catch all the action – and there was a lot of it. Add to that a veritable army of cast, crew and extras that had us on the tips of our toes all the way through.

We took it all in our stride, as we pride ourselves on doing. There’s nothing like a highly improbable challenge to get the blood flowing and the rhythm going.

Mahindra:

10th, 12th, 14th and 15th December 2012

We had a great time working again with Chrome Pictures and renowned Indian director Amit Sharma in December 2012.

With two shooting days around Cape Town and four in and around Johannesburg, we managed a really smooth job of packing it all in and allowing for the creation of a beautiful commercial that really shows the splendour of Africa.

Locations around Jo’burg included the classic Savanna landscapes offered by Lindbergh Estate, where we shot the hot air balloon, Masai warriors, wildebeest and zebra, and captured the true African feel. For the dense jungle scenes we took the production to Graskop. Each of these locations are about five hours out of Jo’burg, though in completely different directions, so there was a lot of travelling. Look out for the giraffe grabbing a snack through the Mahindra’s window, which we shot at Glen Afric.

We used Cape Town to cover a diverse range of beautiful scenery and landscapes, going up to 5 hours out for the arid dry Karoo areas along the R355 to Calvinia, and the Tankwa Karoo – and then to the beautiful range of mountains, lakes, roads which can be found within an hour and a half of the city.

Another ambitious shoot serviced by Atomik Pictures, resulting in another high quality piece of work.

Pepsi:

23rd, 24th, 26th and 27th November 2012

This was a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with world-renowned director Harry Patarmanis, who lived up to his reputation and was an absolute pleasure to work with.

Yalla is the name of the commercial – it’s an Arabic word that basically means “Let’s go!” And that’s exactly what we did as we tore around Cape Town over the four days of shooting, having loads of fun in the process. Paintball scenes, go-karting, fireworks on the beach, diving into the Sea Point pool and trolley races were just a few of the scenarios involved – all the types of things that get the blood flowing.

We were shooting for two territories: Middle East and north Africa being one, and central Africa the other – using different casts for most of the set ups – so it was a case of “Cut, nice work, now lets get the other cast and do it all again!” With five locations per day this added a whole lot of bustling to an already challenging schedule.

Take a look at the version of the spot on our Home page – you’ll get a pretty good idea of all the Yalla-ing that we did to make this one a success.
